A number of Sandwick pupils have won certificates in this year's Commonwealth Essay Competition.
Three second year pupils and a third year pupil won certificates in this huge competition in which people take part from all over the Commonwealth, including Australia, Canada, India, some African countries and even tiny Fiji. Two won Commended certificates in their age-group. These are Lucy and Hayley. Kirsten improved even on this, gaining a Highly Commended certificate together with Third year pupil Elyse.
Their English teacher declared, 'This was a fantastic success for these pupils. Thousands take part in it from all over the world and very few even receive a mention at the end. They should all be congratulated for their efforts. Well done!'
